I believe we can stay together
Work together
Make this land a better place
Time for peace
Face the challenges daily
Like a family
We could appreciate all we have
And peacefully
A land will be like a paradise
Please open your eyes
And your ears
We have many needs
Can’t you see
Mama crying
Children dying
Papa weeping
Worst things happening
Like raping and kidnapping of the loved ones
We have failed
To manage this world for ages
Many have been locked in cages
At this stage
The world is not safe
Human beings turned into slaves
Indeed it’s because of greed
Many have been dead
Hopeless and homeless
Why do you always curse
Start to bless
Don’t protest
I suggest

Why can’t we live together
Why can’t we work together
To make the land a better place
And why do our mothers die
And why do our children die
And we forget the past

And share everything we have together
Like brothers and sisters

A song from Emmanuel Jal’s album “Gua”

It sounds even better than it reads. I cried.

I just listened to it once again and realized I made a mistake:
“Indeed it’s because of greed” not “grief”… makes more sense this way.

Yes. It is truly a touching poem. Thank you very much for sharing with us.
