Kibera

Posted on Updated on

Here’s a quick video I put together using the pictures taken during my very first trip to Kibera. I found it extremely hard to comment on any of them or add anything. I believe a lot of these are stories in their own right, though, and it’d be hard to describe things better than they do.

Nice pix. I did not know of Kibera.

But I have found it dangerous to make assumptions about pictures in almost any part of Africa.

I just do not have the context understanding most times to make sense of them. I will have to read a bit on this.

    Thanks for the slideshow.

I know what you mean about assumptions. And trust me, I was tempted to put in comments about what I saw, heard and smelled when I was there… but I figured I’d just dig out some facts to explain my photos at least somewhat. It’s very easy to misunderstand these people. I think one needs to have lived in Kibera to be able to write about Kibera. I figured that with having spent just one day there, all I could do was inform others; maybe make them think… It’s so great that you want to read more about it.

    Thanks for watching.
